We've been getting some questions of why we started a cooperative for our seed garlic sales and not just an LLC or other business model.
We were inspired by the cooperatives of the past and future that are farmer led and driven, democratic in their management and leadership, and equitable to both large and small producers in power and dividends.
Our hopes is that we are creating a cooperative that resembles all these things and not just a normal business with top down decision making and profits not being fairly distributed. Thanks to Rock Mountain Farmer's Union Co-op Center for the guidance and help establishing our collective and to our local co-ops like Southwest Farm Fresh and Durango Natural Foods for continuing to do the good work they do.
