The heat has been brutal, but the garlic is out of the field and hanging for drying! All the Members of The Grasshopper Collective think that this is one of the best garlic crops in years and it should cure really well.
How do we cure our garlic? In our high desert climate, garlic cures really well. Our Member Farms all hang garlic from the ceilings of their barns/sheds for 3-4 weeks depending on the weather. This photo is from Banga's Farm and you can see Dave hanging handfuls of Music Garlic with bailing twine to cure.
Our Farm Cooperative is excited to offer the following Seed Garlic Varieties this season:
- Music Garlic
- Chesnok Red Garlic
- Montana Zemo Garlic
- Duganski Garlic
- Inchelium Red Garlic
- Red Toch Garlic
- Lorz Italian Garlic
- Transylvanian Garlic
- Susanville Garlic
We may release a couple more varieties in early September, stay tuned.
